Utilities Water & Gas / I&C Helping to Keep Research Pumping Long Term

In the heart of Napa, UC Davis’ Viticulture and Enology program has a 40-acre research vineyard – Oakville Station.  For more than 50 years, the station has been crucial for the research and trials for clones, vine spacing, pruning levels, irrigation, and more. Due to its contributions in helping to better understand the science of viticulture, the maintenance of the facility is incredibly important. 

Facilities Management Earns Multiple Awards for Innovations in Sustainability

This year, APPA: Leadership in Educational Facilities, the broadest coalition of educational facilities professionals in North America, is recognizing Facilities Management for their excellence in sustainability within higher education, with not one, but two awards – the Effective Innovation Award for their TherMOOstat tool and the Sustainability Innovation Award for their Active Commissioning Enterprise (ACE) program.

Oldest Certified LEED Platinum Building on Our Campus

Built in 1955, the Energy Conservation Office once served as the ROTC facility on campus. Today, it is home to the Energy & Engineering unit within Facilities Management and holds a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified Platinum rating for existing buildings (EB). It is the oldest building on campus to have received a LEED certification and the first existing building to receive the platinum rating — the highest green building rating given by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
