Message from AVC Clint Lord
Facilities Management continued to navigate a challenging fiscal environment this past year while remaining focused on supporting the university’s teaching, research, and public service mission. Through close collaboration with campus leadership and the budget office, we identified opportunities to reduce our budget deficit, improve operational efficiency, and position the organization for long-term financial sustainability.
As part of these efforts, we adjusted custodial service levels across select campus spaces to better align with the university’s funded service model, based on APPA Custodial Service Level 4 standards, an industry benchmark for custodial service in higher education. This approach ensures our custodial resources are aligned with available funding while continuing to support a safe, functional, and healthy campus environment.
We also took important steps to strengthen our organization for the future. A cross-functional working group was charged with updating Facilities Management’s mission and vision statements to better reflect who we are and where we’re headed. Our updated vision and mission statements will help guide our work and decision-making in the years ahead.
Despite ongoing financial challenges, we remained committed to recognizing the people who make our work possible. I’m proud of the resilience, professionalism, and dedication our employees continue to demonstrate every day. As we look ahead, we will continue identifying opportunities to strengthen our operations, improve our financial position, and ensure Facilities Management remains a trusted partner in advancing UC Davis’ mission.
