Staff Spotlight: James Mosqueda
James Mosqueda joined Custodial Services as our Operations Manager of Recharge and Events on March 6, and he’s already making a big impact. We recently sat down with James to learn more about his role and his experience with being part of Facilities Management (FM)!

This is James’ first role in FM and with UC Davis overall! Prior to joining us, James worked as a district manager with American Building Maintenance Company for the Sacramento area. In his previous role, he gained valuable experience in operations management, contract management, and development. He’s very excited to bring his past experience to service our vast and diverse campus!
One of his favorite parts about his new role is the unique challenges of managing such a dynamic campus and community. Day-to-day operations are never the same so there is always something new to be excited about. Being able to offer all of his experience to service the campus and meet expectations makes his work feel especially meaningful and impactful. He says that working with different teams to understand their objectives and seeing their operations firsthand has been a joy. He feels very inspired by how innovative his team is and is excited to help continue reinventing the department with new processes to showcase their services. He feels extremely welcomed by the FM staff and looks forward to maintaining long-term relationships and developing new ones!
In his free time, James enjoys spending time with his children and family, as well as partaking in outdoor activities like fishing and cycling. He also has an interest in building and working on vintage car restoration, and his most recent restoration was a T Model Tin Lizzy that he always wanted as a kid.
We’re thrilled to have James on the team and look forward to all the great things he will accomplish. Welcome to UC Davis, James!
