Staff Spotlight: Fidel Cadenas Lara

Please join us in welcoming the newest member of our Customer Experience Center (CEC) team, Fidel Cadenas Lara! Fidel joined the team in early March and is already a valuable member of the CEC.

We sat down to speak with Fidel just a week after he started his new role to get to know more about him. Fidel is new to working at UC Davis, but had some familiarity with the campus from participating in basketball games here in college! Even so, he says he has been shocked to learn how large the campus actually is! 

At the Customer Experience Center, Fidel works hard to respond to calls and other customer requests. He ensures that requests are passed on to the appropriate team and that they have all the information they need to complete the job. Fidel worked as a dispatcher prior to joining our team, and says his experience there has helped make his transition to Facilities Management (FM) smooth! 

So far, Fidel says his favorite part of the job is being able to work with so many different people with different skill sets! He appreciates the way that staff in various departments work together to help each other solve problems. Fidel’s biggest challenge, he says, has been trying to wrap his head around the size of the campus! He says there are a lot of different buildings and zones he needs to know in his role, but we’re sure he’ll have it down in no time! 

In his free time, Fidel loves staying active! He says he spends a lot of time hiking and playing basketball.
