Staff Profile | Yasmin Aspiras

Yasmin Aspiras, Lab Manager of the Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP), has been with UC Davis Facilities Management (FM) since last spring and is already an asset to Utilities!

A UC Davis alumna, Yasmin completed her undergrad with a Bachelor of Science in Food Science and began working for the City of Vacaville’s Utilities department monitoring water quality. Her experience spans two decades, and when her sister recommended she apply to UC Davis, she jumped at the opportunity!

As a Lab Manager, Yasmin ensures the laboratory produces data on campus water quality and shares this data with FM customers as needed. Yasmin’s favorite part of her job is knowing she is part of a group that provides essential services to the UC Davis community. She outlines these vital services as providing safe drinking water and ensuring treated wastewater is released to the Arboretum or Putah Creek, minimizing the environmental impact. Since the WWTP is a relatively small lab, Yasmin says it is necessary to know how to perform tasks from top to bottom. She enjoys working with new laboratory analysts to help them navigate the intimidating work of understanding and complying with regulations.

Yasmin enjoys spending time with her husband, two children, and the family dog in her spare time. Their favorite activities include traveling and trying out local eateries!

Welcome to the team, Yasmin, and thank you for your dedication to keeping the water at UC Davis safe!
