Employee Spotlight: Petar Grujich

Meet Energy & Engineering’s Control Engineer, Petar Grujich! Petar has been with Facilities Management (FM) since 2017, when he was selected to join the Energy and Engineering team after working as a construction technician for Siemens Automation Company.

As a Controls Engineer, Petar monitors the HVAC servers and field equipment to ensure they are functional, properly running, and accessible to various facilities teams that use them for daily tasks. He works with the energy team to review a building for additional energy savings, then goes into the field to assess devices and existing programs. Petar then adjusts/modifies the building systems for the best outcome. He appreciates that his position allows him to focus on the campus versus traveling to various customers as he did when working with Siemens, saying, "My role gives me an ownership of my program – I enjoy what I do here at UC Davis and look forward to many years to come!"

Petar enjoys working with FM staff and does not picture himself elsewhere! “Our collaborative team at Facilities Management can tackle anything that happens. At Kemper Hall, we shut down an exhaust fan, causing smoke to fill the room after being turned on. Within minutes, our electricians showed up and started replacing the burned breaker,” said Petar.

Outside of work, Petar enjoys spending time with his wife and kids. Whether outdoors driving on mountain backroads or indoors watching movies and participating in escape rooms, Petar is having fun with his family! Thank you for your hard work at FM, Petar!
