Student Spotlight: Alexxa Berumen

Meet Alexxa Berumen, a first-year Communication major from Fullerton who is already making an impact at UC Davis as a Communication Intern with Facilities Management, joining the team midway through Winter Quarter 2026.

In her role, Alexxa supports both internal and external communications across Facilities. Her work includes managing social media content, contributing to custodial wellness and staff newsletters, and designing weekly mobile billboards that keep staff informed and engaged.

The projects she especially enjoyed working on were the April and July newsletters, where she helped design the final PDFs using InDesign as well as work on the digital correspondence itself. She said the experience allowed her to combine layout design and visual storytelling, which are skills that connect back to her long-standing interest in journalism.

Beyond design work, she has enjoyed conducting interviews and contributing to storytelling efforts within Facilities, gaining hands-on experience in professional communication while doing work she genuinely enjoys.

Looking ahead, Alexxa plans to pursue law school with the goal of specializing in intellectual property law. Drawn to the structure and fast pace of professional business environments, she is especially interested in careers that intersect media, law, and strategy. While her primary focus is on the legal field, her current experience has also sparked an interest in marketing and media strategy.

Outside of work, Alexxa has a strong passion for media, music, and fashion. Growing up in OC, she was surrounded by the energy of the Southern California entertainment scene, which pushed her towards her childhood dream of becoming a fashion or entertainment reporter. She loves going to concerts, spending her days in LA, and staying connected to the industries that first inspired her.
