Student Spotlight: Allison Riley
Utilities & Engineering welcomed four new students to the Green Buildings Team this fall. One of those students is Allison Riley, a third-year Mechanical Engineering major and Statistics minor. Though she is new to the team, her passion for environmental sustainability has been with her for years. Because of her enthusiasm for sustainability, she is excited to show up every day, knowing her efforts positively impact the campus community.
Within the Green Buildings Team, she focuses on the energy and atmosphere credits for buildings, which includes reviewing meter data, performing calculations, and writing narratives. She’s also learned more about what Facilities Management does and continues to find more components they are in charge of to keep the campus operating.
Allison’s position with Energy & Engineering aligns with what she wants to do further down her career path. She was skeptical of finding environmental-based jobs as a Mechanical Engineering major, but her work with FM debunks that. After graduating in the spring of 2024, Allison plans to attend graduate school to expand her engineering studies.
Allison plays on the Women’s Club Lacrosse team at UC Davis when she's not studying or working on energy conservation. Now that ski and snowboarding resorts are open for the winter, she’s hoping to get back out on the slopes! Thanks for all you do for FM, Allison, and we can’t wait to see what you do next!
