Customer Profile | Chad Brown

Chad Brown has been working for UC Davis for just over 21 years. Currently, he is Operations Manager for the Operations and Event Management/Student Affairs team. Chad works with two other managers to maintain operations, custodial, and grounds services for fifteen buildings that fall under the Student Affairs Organization here at UC Davis. He also manages key control and door access systems for all fifteen buildings. When asked what his favorite part of his job was, Chad replied, “[he] loves being part of a team that is committed to ensuring their buildings are at the best level of service.” Chad and the Operations and Events Management team really care about their building occupants and they strive to make sure they are provided with the best level of care. Chad saw some challenges this past year with COVID-19 like the rest of the campus. He said the lack of occupants in the buildings made reporting on issues somewhat challenging. Challenging as it was, Chad and the team were able to provide services and the care needed to keep everything running smoothly.

Prior to his role at the ARC and Pavilion, Chad was with the Facilities Management structural team performing pest control tasks and working in the sign shop. Chad says he cannot say enough good things about the Facilities Management shops and their relationship with the management teams. Together, “the teams are truly the backbone of the campus.” Chad described an example where the two teams came together to solve one hot situation. Recently, there was an HVAC outage at the Equestrian Center’s residence house on one of the hottest days this year. With a quick phone call, Chad had the HVAC technicians responding to the house and got it cooled off within a few hours.

In Chad’s downtime, he likes to keep busy upgrading his backyard and heading down to vacation in Mexico with his wife. Partnerships like the one with Chad and Facilities Management keep the campus running and looking its best.

Thank you, Chad, for everything you do here at UC Davis!
