From FM Intern to Future Social Worker
Celeste Angulo's Journey with UC Davis Operations Support
Celeste Angulo is a fourth-year student employee pursuing a double major in Anthropology and Chicano Studies with a minor in Linguistics. Celeste’s first job with UC Davis began working as an intern for Facilities Management Operations Support, Customer Experience Center in November 2021.
Throughout her internship with Operations Support, Celeste has assisted her teammates with numerous projects and building shutdowns around campus. Operations Support has a heavy workload and Celeste has been a great help by completing unassigned tasks in the queue and reaching out to building contacts for shutdowns. Her favorite part of the job is using writing to communicate. Communicating through email allows her to learn to effectively communicate with others and resolve any problems they may be having.
When Celeste completes her UC Davis education, she plans to attend graduate school to be a social worker for women imprisoned for substance abuse. She hopes to ease their transition and reduce discrimination as they acclimate to society. Celeste’s work with Operations Support will assist her in this career path as she is learning how to communicate and present herself in a professional setting.
After graduating, Celeste hopes the broad scope of work done within Operations Support will prepare her for the workforce as the skills she is learning are transferrable to various careers. When she is not at work, Celeste is likely writing poetry, reading, knitting, spending time with her twin sister, or hiking, but don’t ask her to do a 14-mile hike again! Welcome to FM-you are going to love it here.
