Student Commitment to Sustainability
Nicole Madey's Work as a LEED Green Building Student
We are delighted to feature Nicole Madey, a Civil Engineering major with double minors in Professional Writing and Sustainability of the Built Environment. Nicole has worked at UC Davis in diverse roles since 2019, including Resident Advisor, administrative assistant at UCD Design and Construction Management, and researcher in Dr. Barbato's lab. With her commitment to sustainability and engineering, Nicole joined Facilities Management (FM) as a Green Buildings LEED Energy Intern starting in January.
Nicole reviews and processes LEED credits for campus buildings, focusing on materials and resources. From evaluating green cleaning products to analyzing water usage and ensuring lighting quality, she strives to contribute to the development of energy-efficient and environmentally friendly structures. Nicole enjoys completing site visits to FM-managed buildings, where she gains behind-the-scenes access while collecting vital data for LEED Credits and witnesses the translation of office work into the real world.
Outside of her studies and professional pursuits, Nicole enjoys rock climbing, hiking, camping, and exploring her culinary skills. Recently, she embarked on road trips across the stunning landscapes of the Pacific Northwest with her newly adopted kitten.
