Designing User Experiences for Energy and Engineering
Innovative Solutions for Underserved Communities
Meet fourth-year Human-Computer Interaction, major Anthony Chow. Anthony has been working as a User Experience and Design Intern in the Energy and Engineering office. He has worked for the University since the fall of 2019 and made the move to Facilities Management about 9 months ago. Anthony actually created his own major at UC Davis, a Bachelor of Science in Human-Computer Interaction.
Anthony says his duties include conducting research on how customers use the Energy and Engineering dashboards. From those results, he then sketches solutions, creating mockups and prototypes, then he tests his solutions. Anthony has recently been working with the Campus Energy Education Dashboard (CEED), by interviewing students about how they approach campus energy use and has turned these insights into enhancements for CEED. When asked what his favorite part of the job is, he said, “Having that “aha!” moment when looking for a solution.” Anthony hopes to use his skill set and knowledge to find solutions catered to underserved communities and minorities.
When Anthony is not working, in class, or studying, he is able to pursue other interests. He enjoys photography, videography, and playing video games. Anthony shared a fun fact about himself; he is a plant dad and has many plants.
Anthony, we are excited to say we know the first Human-Computer Interaction major at UC Davis and he works for Facilities Management!
