Devin Cabillo's Path as a Software Engineering Intern

Meet senior Devin Cabillo, a Mathematics and Computer Science major. Devin has been working as a software engineering intern in the Energy and Engineering office since April 2019, and is currently working on a project with the University of California Office of the President (UCOP) Carbon Neutrality Initiative (CNI). He is developing a web-based app to track each UC campus’ historical energy use and progress toward carbon neutrality. Other projects that Devin has worked on are the UC Davis therMOOstat and the CEED campus energy project.
“I enjoy writing software that benefits our environment,” notes Devin, “The websites and software I work on are just one of the many initiatives that Facilities Management and UCOP work towards to reduce energy consumption and promoting renewable resources. I am proud to say the work I do is bettering the world we all live in.” Devin plans to begin a career as a technical consultant in San Francisco after he completes his degree.
When Devin is not working on saving our planet, he is able to pursue some other interests. He enjoys cooking, and after learning to make homemade pasta from two chefs in Italy, he has been an avid pasta maker ever since. He also enjoys rock climbing, both indoor and outside, and has built an impressive home gym while the gyms have been closed due to COVID. It is a good thing that Devin enjoys staying active and fit, as he needs that energy to keep up with his Great Dane, Cleo. We see why Devin works so hard to clean up our environment; when he reaches the peak in his rock-climbing pursuits, he will be able to enjoy the clear view and fresh air that his efforts have accomplished.
