    Increased Sanitization

    Level Two Cleaning

When determined appropriate by campus leadership, this level of cleaning and sanitization will be used by custodial staff to clean high-traffic areas such as lobbies, hallways, restrooms, offices, conference rooms, classrooms, study lounges, outdoor dining areas, etc. with increased frequency. These areas will be cleaned daily at a minimum with broadly effective disinfectants effective against a wide variety of bacteria and viruses. This level of cleaning can be performed multiple times a day depending on the available staff and supplies.

    What we clean:
    • Counters
    • Doorknobs / handles
    • Doorframes
    • Light switch plates
    • Restroom surfaces
    • Tables and chairs
    • Railings
    • Remote controls
    • Cash registers
    • Kitchen surfaces
    • Kitchen area equipment (coffee machines, tea kettles, microwaves, toaster ovens, etc.)
    • Carpeted surfaces
    • Hard-surface flooring

    Decontamination

    Level Three Cleaning

In the event disinfection services related to the spread of a communicable disease are needed, departments must contact Safety Services to report a safety incident or concern. Upon receipt of a request, Safety Services reviews it against current protocols and in consultation with public health officials. The response may include the notification of Facilities Management's and/or Student Housing and Dining Service's Custodial Services units who will employ the "decontamination" level for cleaning in the locations needed. Sanitation services will include the use of specific disinfectant recommendations effective against the known communicable disease. For laboratory locations, researchers will perform sanitization of equipment and other research-specific items. This level of cleaning can be performed multiple times a day depending on the available staff and supplies at the time of performing these duties.
