As we step into the new year, I can’t help but look back on the incredible achievements we’ve accomplished. I want to express my sincere thanks to Facilities Management staff for their unwavering commitment to the University’s mission.
Welcome back to campus! Our focus at Facilities Management shifts in response to the changing season. As part of our ongoing efforts to maintain our buildings’ integrity and functionality, Facilities Management works diligently to address potential vulnerabilities and minimize the impact of adverse weather conditions.
UC Davis is currently in the process of addressing a campus-wide need for increased access to gender-inclusive restrooms. Gender inclusive bathrooms are typically single-stall, lockable bathrooms available to people of all genders and sexes. Gender inclusive bathrooms provide a safe, private facility for transgender, genderqueer, and gender non-conforming people, families with children, and people with disabilities who may need assistance.
Facilities Management's teams maintain our building's critical air-conditioning and ventilation systems throughout the year. We have over 1,400 buildings on the Davis campus and they perform well, however, each building performs differently based on its age, the equipment in the building and critical human factors — we cannot stress enough the importance of keeping doors and windows closed when it's smoky outdoors.
