A tour of the CHCP

Tour the Central Heating & Cooling Plant

On a tour of the Central Heating & Cooling Plant (CHCP) you'll see the 4 boilers that are used to heat campus buildings and the 2 chillers used to cool campus buildings. Your tour guide will also talk about strategies in place to increase the energy efficiency at the CHCP. There are three tour guides on rotation, all professional engineers working at UC Davis. We'll give you a sneak peek by showing you some photos below, but you should definitely sign up for a tour to really go behind the scenes and learn about energy use at UC Davis.

Typically, tours of the CHCP are given in larger groups of 8-12 people. There are quarterly tours that are a part of the Facilities Customer Tour and sometimes we lead tours as a part of an academic curriculum. Additionally, if you have a group interested in a tour we're more than happy to accommodate your group!

Follow @ucdavisjoules on Instagram to check out one of our video highlights of a CHCP Tour!

Interested in signing your group up for a CHCP Tour? Send an email request to Kiernan Salmon at kmsalmon@ucdavis.edu with the subject line: CHCP Tour. Include your name, the UC Davis department you're affiliated with, and the size of your group.
